Why We Built Real Colour Picker
Every designer and developer knows the routine: you take a screenshot of a stunning interface, an inspiring photograph, or a client mockup, and you need to inspect an exact hex code or extract a harmonious palette. But when you turn to typical web tools, you encounter a frustrating landscape:
- Privacy Risks: Many existing tools upload your private images, unreleased client designs, and sensitive mockups to backend cloud servers. If you are working under strict non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), uploading assets to untrusted third-party servers is unacceptable.
- Clutter & Slowdowns: Intrusive banner ads, heavy tracking cookies, and multi-second upload progress bars disrupt your creative flow.
- Outdated Color Science: Most tools remain trapped in 1996 sRGB mathematics, lacking support for modern standards like CSS Color Module Level 4 (OKLCH, Display P3) or WCAG 2.2 accessibility contrast ratings.
- Fragmented Utilities: You had to visit four different sites to sample an eyedropper, check contrast ratios, generate color harmonies, and find game engine codes (like Minecraft formatting, Bukkit MOTDs, or Roblox Luau BrickColors).
We built Real Colour Picker to solve these pain points once and for all. By harnessing modern Web APIs (CanvasRenderingContext2D, Clipboard API, and fast typed arrays), our entire studio operates directly inside your local browser memory.
